No one that is familiar with Carmen Miranda can disagree that she was a colorful character. Her costumes and hats were wild and triggered visions of a vibrant, tropical life. Even her musical productions were fruit baskets come alive.
A week ago in a previous post, “Color Conscious or Fashion Weary,” I posted a picture of a bracelet I used to refer to as the fruity bracelet. This bracelet is a replica of the first fruity bracelet I made. The more I looked at it the more it conjured up images of Carmen Miranda singing “Chica Chica Boom Chic” or “The Lady in the Tutti Frutti Hat.” A little silly, maybe, but Carmen was an intriguing character. Wouldn’t you say?
This entire bracelet is wire-wrapped. For the base beads I used light aquamarine and orange cat’s eye beads. Cat’s eye beads are fiber optic glass beads and have a luminescent, 3d effect. All the bead charms were wrapped and attached directly onto the base bead links. I chose to use colored Artistic wire for this bracelet. I alternated between amber colored wire and “sea foam” colored wire.
